Young, beautiful, enterprising and industrious Bella Chiwendu Oluoha, CEO of Bella Books, won the just concluded fourth edition of Live Your Dreams Africa Competition. The competition is aimed at helping people to actualize their dreams despite all odds.
According to her, she even registered at the last minute yet she was able to win. I love Bella’s spirit and i hope all Nigerian youths will emulate that spirit.
Here is what she wrote on Facebook after she won the competition:
HOW I WON THE 100, 000 NAIRA FUNDING FOR KICK STARTING MY DREAMS BY LIVE YOUR DREAMS AFRICA ON SATURDAY 27TH JANUARY.
So I have been MIA(missing in action) for sometime now on social media.
I have been busy for this event. I was part of the volunteers, specifically,
a team leader for the event on Saturday .
You know this saying ” he who does good to humanity also does good for himself”?? my mum always hammers on this a lot. If i didn’t volunteer I probably would not have gotten that text that propelled me.
Lesson: Most times, its in your place of giving and serving that you meet opportunities. Learn to serve.
Okay… initially, I never, I repeat never even considered going for this. In fact I was even broadcasting this to people (if you are my friend in whatsapp you must have been seeing the flyer)until….
I received an encouragement text from my mentor Laiza Elizabeth…. am pretty sure she sent it out to a lot of people…
And then I started harbouring the idea of just trying… just like everyone, I didn’t want to go and fall my hands so I was confused as to go or not..
Lesson: Have people that pushes you to do beyond yourself.
I kept on postponing and postponing till I made a mistake that forced me to partake…. I mistakenly told Bestie Tamara Atti Tamara Atti and she kept me accountable. ”Bella when will you do it??” She will ask. Then I knew I was inexcusable.. I had to do it.
Lesson: Have someone you are accountable to. This helps a whole lot!
This is the shocking part…. do you know I had to literally make nothing less than 25 videos for 2 days before Bestie finally approved one? ? Today, I now respect actors because its not easy oo. She ensured I did not give out rarara video on social media.
Lesson: No matter what, always give your best. Put your best feet ahead.
Fast forward… my friends are the best a human being could ever wish for… at a point, I was just seeing ” vote for my friend Bella” on most whatsapp status I open. Most even went the extra like to tag people under my video to vote me in… me sef wae dae compete i didn’t even do much …… low battery wahala.
Lesson: Have a strong support system. Be intentional about who your friends are.
The way it happened shocked me because I applied late… like who applies for a competition on wednesday that will end on a Friday?? Now i know I was crazy
Lesson:You can never know until you try. Just try. No harm in trying.
But God did it. My friends made it happen too. I want appreciate you guys. God bless you.!! I won’t have gotten it without you guys oo
After I qualified, I was scared about the real battle. Because am a very shy person After the competition, people were like this girl is very bold o and I was like me kee ?? Infact it was the holy spirit. After the initial tension, I relaxed. Got comfortable with the crowd and pitched my business(thou my heart seemed to have a heartbeat of its own).
Even till now I still can’t believe we did it!! God did it. We brought it home . Most times I have to look at that board to be sure it is my name
I am one of the few people that has the strongest and best support system on earth.. my parents are the best, my friend are amazing and super supportive. And my sister Sunshine??? My o my.!! She is my Strongest ally on earth…i love you baby girl
Thank you to everyone that voted, tagged friends and even want the extra mile. God bless you!!
