My dad was not happy to see me. He had a new wife who was pregnant at the time and they were both living in a one room apartment, smaller than that of my aunt’s place and in a very dirty environment. He begged my aunt to take me back with her but she refused and left me there with him. At this point, I had dropped out of school at primary 3. This was because I was not bright, probably due to all I have been through and the situation I found myself. Also, paying my school fees was a tug of war.
I settled in with my dad and his new wife. Life with them was worse than hell. They starved me so badly and poured insults on me every day. They reminded me daily of how worthless I was, a good for nothing dull child. I cried my eyes out daily and cursed my mother for leaving me. I wished she could come back for me but that never happened. Maybe she will when am long gone from this sinful world.
I continued living my life this way for a while until one night, my dad attempted to have sex with me. My step mum had travelled to Abeokuta in Ogun State for a wedding. She was to return the next day. I fought him and made sure he couldn’t succeed, but I was broken. I felt so sad. The next morning, immediately he left the house, I packed my things and left.
I did not know where I was going, but I was determined to leave the house. I was ready to die on the streets than continue facing all that humiliation in my father’s house. So I set out for nowhere in particular.
After roaming the streets for almost the whole day till it was about 9pm, I went to my aunt’s place. She was mad at me despite explaining things to her. She told me, no matter what happens, he is my father and so i should go back home. I insisted on not going back there but she would have none of it. She eventually allowed me to sleep in their house that night. Her husband, as usual was angry on sighting me but I still managed to spend the night there. The next day, she made sure i left her house first thing in the morning. I was back on the streets, no where to go, no body to talk to. I was all alone in the whole wide world, lost and clueless.
