A Super Woman is strong with a resilient spirit that enables her to tackle any situation with strength and grace. A Super Woman is authentic with herself, she understands the fact that she cannot change the past but is in control of the future. A Super Woman identifies and embraces her story and tells it in a manner that reflects strength and resilience without giving room for pity party. A Super Woman uses the negativity from her past to help others by giving, supporting or teaching them.
This is why Olivia Malachy is called a Super Woman. She is a true definition of everything a Super Woman entails. Despite surviving a terrible accident that almost claimed her life and made her to become an amputee, she carried herself with so much confidence and poise that makes everyone wonder how she is doing it. I personally marvel at her personality and admire her a lot.
In this exclusive chat with Jayinspire Media, Olivia tells us more about herself, the accident, her challenges and motivations.
I am Olivia Malachy, a Nigerian from Imo state. I am a student and the first daughter from a family of five. My dad is late and my mom has been our all ever since.
ABOUT THE ACCIDENT AND HOW SHE BECAME AN AMPUTEE
I was born with my complete hands but my left hand was amputated after an accident that took place few years back that almost took my life in Owerri while I was travelling. According to reports from the accident, I was the only survivor, but I hope not true, because I can never wish anybody dead.
ON THE CHALLENGES THAT COMES WITH HER CURRENT CONDITION
Hmmmm, to tell you the truth, it has not been easy. So many people here misinterpret the word amputee as disabled. Nobody is willing to walk with you, or be your friend, because they feel you are not complete…
ON HER SOURCE OF MOTIVATION
My source of motivation is God and that name #Superwoman. The name #Superwoman is not just a Nickname but it has been an extra-ordinary energy that helps me overcome all my problems with smiles on my face.
ON HOW SHE CAME BY THE NAME SUPER WOMAN
After looking at all the challenges and pains I have been through and I still overcame all with smiles on my face, that was when I gave myself the name #Superwoman. I don’t see myself as disable, and I don’t give room for pity. I am not on social media for pity or crying out my pains for people to help. NO NO NO. I am there to inspire and motivate people. If anybody gives me anything out of help to me, I will really appreciate and thank the person from my heart, but I AM NOT DISABLED. Personally, I do a lot of charity works not because I have much but it is something I have always had passion for and was doing it even before the accident, so after the accident I didn’t want to stop doing it, it is in me.
ABOUT HER WATCH WORD IN LIFE
My life has two rules. Rule number 1. Don’t quit. Rule number 2. Don’t forget rule number 1.
ON WHERE SHE HOPES TO BE IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS
Hmmmm, God has a perfect plan.
ON HER ADVICE TO PEOPLE FACING ONE CHALLENGE OR THE OTHER
My advice to everyone out there facing one challenges or another is not to give up no matter the circumstances. Once there is life, there is hope for a better future.
Olivia is yet to go back to school after the accident but is currently dedicating her time and energy to helping the poor and needy people around her. May God crown all her efforts with success.
