BAD ROAD CLAIMS LIFE OF YOUNG VIBRANT NIGERIAN YOUTH

By Janice Johnson Pemida

The deplorable state of Nigerian roads has once again claimed the life of a young, beautiful, vibrant, intelligent and hardworking Nigerian youth.

Stella Omonye Joy Azabi met her untimely death on her way to Abuja from Lagos on an official assignment. She was a graduate of Tai Sholarin University of Eductaion and recently completed her National Youth Service.

Few days after she resumed her new job, she was sent on an official assignment outside her state of residence. But Alas, that happened to be a journey of no return as she became a victim of bad Nigerian road accident. Two of her colleaugues allegedly died on the spot while she was rushed to the hospital but died two weeks later due to complications arising from the accident. Her family however did not know about the accident until a week later, after she managed to use someone’s phone to contact them.

How many more lives will be lost through these avoidable accidents before the Nigerian government finally does something to salvage this situation? The lives of great future leaders are been cut short in their prime due to the nonchallant attitude of government towards this issue. Something needs to be done as soon as possible to avoid more deaths in this country.

Meanwhile, may the soul of Stella Omonye Joy Azabi rest in perfect peace and may God grant her loved once and family the fortitued to bear this irreplaceable loss.
